Terms of use

Plain English, and short. This is the agreement between you and MEGAROOSTER LLC ("we," "us") for the LocalWispr app. Buying or using LocalWispr means you agree to it.

1Your license

When you pay $19, we grant you a non-exclusive, lifetime license to use LocalWispr for your own personal use. "Lifetime" means the license doesn't expire and isn't a subscription — you pay once and it's yours.

You may install and use LocalWispr on all of the Macs you own. The one license covers your personal machines — your laptop, your desktop, a future Mac you replace it with. It's licensed to you, the person, not locked to a single computer.

2The free trial

Before you pay, you can dictate your first 2,000 words free, so you can decide whether LocalWispr is for you on your own hardware. After that, a license is required to keep going.

3What you can't do

• Don't resell, sublicense, or redistribute the software or your license key.
• Don't share your license key publicly or post it where others can use it. The license is for your Macs; publishing a key so strangers can activate the app isn't personal use.
• Don't remove or alter licensing, copyright, or ownership notices, and don't try to pass the app off as your own.

Using it across your own Macs: fine, that's the point. Handing a key to your whole office or dropping it in a forum: not fine.

4Ownership

You own your recordings, your transcripts, your dictionary, and everything you produce with LocalWispr — all of it stays on your Mac (see the Privacy page). We own the LocalWispr software itself. Your license lets you use it; it doesn't transfer ownership of the app to you.

5Provided "as is"

LocalWispr is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but speech recognition isn't perfect, and we don't guarantee it will be error-free or suit every use. You're responsible for reviewing what it types before you rely on it.

6Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the license — that is, $19 (or $0 if you're on the free trial). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. We're one independent developer, and this keeps things sane for both of us.

8Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the app evolves; the "last updated" date above will change when we do, and the current version always lives here. If a change is significant we'll do our best to note it.
